Safaricom is trying to venture into artificial intelligence and use of bots to improve customer service. on 1st april (fools day), safaricom posted that they are releasing a new Smart Speaker/MiFi – which Supports Swahili/Sheng, This was a prank but it might be a prediction of a new product being worked on by Safaricom.

On telegram, Safaricom has launched a bot which enables customers to:
- Check M-Pesa and airtime balances
- Request M-PESA Customer to Customer Reversal
- Buy Bundles and Top up airtime
